Hauling Hope: Because No Driver Hauls Alone
Meet Hauling Hope — a new charity dedicated to HGV drivers' mental health, offering affordable counselling, community support, and a team that truly understands life on the road.
A Charity Built by Drivers, for Drivers
If you've ever sat in your cab at the end of a long shift, feeling like nobody quite gets what you're going through, there's a new charity that wants you to know - you're not alone. Hauling Hope (or Haulin' Hope, as they style it) launched in late 2025 with a simple but powerful mission: to make a real difference in the mental health of HGV drivers and their families.
Their tagline says it all: "Because no driver hauls alone."
What Hauling Hope Does
At its core, Hauling Hope is about connecting drivers with professional mental health support that actually understands the industry. They've built a Therapy Area on their website featuring a team of qualified counsellors - and crucially, some of them come from the trucking world themselves.
One of their counsellors, Beverley Dobson, is a former truck driver and the wife of a tramping driver. As she puts it: "I know about the long lonely hours in your cab, when we overthink things. It does not matter how big or small your problem is. I am here for you." That kind of lived experience makes a real difference when you're reaching out for help.
The team also includes Serenity MH Therapy (a husband-and-wife team specialising in anxiety), Ross Rolph (The Anxiety Coach), and Chris The Counsellor (a therapeutic counsellor focused on empathy and personal journeys).
Making Counselling Accessible
One of the biggest barriers to mental health support is cost. Hauling Hope is tackling this head-on through their Driver's Counselling Fund - a GoFundMe campaign raising money to put drivers into counselling programmes. It costs around £600 per driver for a full programme, and every penny raised goes directly towards funding sessions for drivers and their families who need it.
They've already raised over £765 towards their £1,000 target, with 18 donations so far. As they say: "By donating as little as £1 you can help us change the mental health of an industry that supplies our country."
Members of Hauling Hope also get access to discounted counselling rates through the charity's partnerships with their therapy team.
Community at the Heart of It
Hauling Hope isn't just about one-to-one therapy. Their mission is built around eight pillars of community support:
- Social connections - reducing isolation through their Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube communities
- Emotional support - knowing someone cares
- Access to resources - counselling, support groups, and education
- Shared experiences - normalising conversations about mental health
- Empowerment - encouraging drivers to take action on their wellbeing
- Skill development - workshops and coping strategies
- Positive environment - fostering a culture of care
- Crisis support - being there when things get really tough
They're active across social media and have already appeared on the HGV1 Podcast (Episode 112), where founding member Leon spoke about why the charity was created and what it means to the driving community.
Growing Support
Hauling Hope is already building partnerships across the industry. StickEtch, a custom sticker company with strong ties to the trucking community, announced a partnership in October 2025 - donating a portion of proceeds from select designs and creating exclusive charity-edition trucker stickers.
They also run a Job Market section on their website, helping drivers find work, and a Merchandise & Events page where you can support the cause.

Why It Matters
The haulage industry keeps this country running, but the mental health of the people behind the wheel has been overlooked for too long. Charities like Hauling Hope are changing that - one driver, one conversation, one counselling session at a time.
As they put it on their Facebook page: "Haulin' Hope was created to remind HGV drivers that you matter. More than the miles you drive. More than the load you carry."
If you're struggling, or you know a driver who is, reach out. Whether it's to Hauling Hope, to our own RoadMate AI [blocked] chat companion, or to any of the helplines on our Emergency Help [blocked] page - help is closer than you think.
You're not alone on this road.
